HATERS

Welcome to The Dish where Drew DeMaree & guests serve up a healthy dose of reality each week.  This blog is about keeping it real ~ real challenges, real distractions, real life getting in the way of, well…virtually everything.  How we view our realities depends on individual mindset, and we want to discuss WHY MINDSET MATTERS.

Let’s talk about HATERS

Caveat – I believe positive, constructive criticism is healthy.  I am not perfect, and I make mistakes – we all do, and having people in your life who help you learn from your mistakes is invaluable.  HATERS are acquaintances who spin tales into non- factual narratives that take on a life of their own.

I feel like my life has been scattered with HATERS because I never followed the traditional paths considered to be “the norm”. When discussing your passions or dreams, HATERS may say:

You can’t afford that

You are too young

You don’t have the right connections or skills

No one will believe you

When you hear “you can’t do that because…”, consider taking it as a challenge. Keeping in mind that throughout history, people who DID MORE THAN THEY HAD TO DO and carried more than their fair share of the load have always been instruments of change. This is the part where you are rolling your eyes and thinking, “Cue the ‘Rocky’ theme song”, but stay with me!

In the current climate, social media is a huge venue for HATERS – FILTER IT!  Choose to DELETE and UNFRIEND – sorry, not sorry!  Use it as a vehicle to better yourself, your relationships and your business; do not lose yourself in the deep, dark recesses of misinformation.

HATERS are intimidated by those who refuse to lower themselves to their standards.  Don’t let them bully you into being less than you are; KEEP DOING MORE.  I chose to THANK MY HATERS because they cause me to pause and reflect.  When someone hurls an accusation, I think back to my words and actions and find the clarity I need to continue on my chosen path.  Rather than wasting energy on defending yourself, use the distraction to focus.  Do not let HATERS derail your dreams; use the insight into your interactions to create bigger ones. While you cannot control the actions of others, you can control your reaction to them, and that’s why MINDSET MATTERS.
